34th Rip To River – 10km Classic Beach Walk or Run
With summer on the doorstep, everybody is starting to think of long hot days at the beach and of course this means our voluntary surf lifesavers are hotting up for the summer season as well.
Ocean Grove main beach experiences some of the largest summer crowds of all Victorian beaches and is part of a 10 kilometer stretch of sand. One of the biggest events of the clubs calendar is the annual “Home Hardware Rip to River”, a 10 km surf beach run from “The Rip” at Point Lonsdale to Ocean Grove by the Barwon River. Arguably the oldest Fun Run in Australia, the “Home Hardware Rip to River Run” is one of the clubs most iconic events and this year celebrates thirty four years.
“It is also our single biggest fundraiser and each year we welcome approximately 1500 runners to the pristine hard sand track from the Point Lonsdale lighthouse to the main beach at Ocean Grove” says club President Chris Paterson. Come along and partake in this much anticipated annual event and show your support. Entries are online only and close at 5pm on
