Queenscliff Maritime Weekend is coming up. It’s the annual weekend which celebrates the maritime heritage of Queenscliff.
Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday the 20th of March 2016.
The popular return of Fishy Tales with stories of lifeboats as well as wooden boat restoration. Tickets sell out early for this!
History and boat restoration presentations from two of the most well regarded wooden boat restoration experts.
Queenscliff Maritime Museum will celebrate its 30 years of development since the arrival of the Queenscliff Lifeboat.
The Blessing of the Fleet will be held at 1:00pm at Queenscliff Harbour.
See the majestic Couta Boats and classic yachts feature in the weekend sailing regatta after the Blessing of the Fleet.
Enjoy Discovery Day at the Queenscliff maritime Museum with fantastic knots and rope splicing displays, guided discover tours.
Family favourite activity, Benito’s Treasure Hunt runs at 2:15pm at Queenscliff Harbour. Free fun for all the family. Age groups 0-10 years, 11 years+. Participants do need to register at Queenscliff Harbour Tower and will be provided with a bag full of treasures, a map and puzzling questions to be answered.
Visit the Point Lonsdale lighthouse for a tour of the stunning vantage point.
You can also catch a free screening of Melbourne Down Under at 1:30pm, a wonderful wildlife documentary of life under the waves of Port Philip Bay.
See the last of the lifeboat men, as they gather for a photoshoot as they gather to celebrate the arrival of the lifeboat and the beginning of the museum 30 years ago.
On Sunday there’s also the crowd favourite race against the Searoad Ferry which will wrap up the weekend’s maritime activities on the water.
